AUIS Hosted Panel Discussion with Ambassador Stephen Hitchen
On Wednesday, September 18th, 2024, the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) hosted a dynamic panel discussion with Ambassador Stephen Hitchen from the British Consulate General in Erbil titled, “Youth, Democracy, and Opportunities: A Discussion with Ambassador Stephen Hitchen and Chevening Scholarship Highlights.” The event focused on critical issues such as youth engagement in democracy, upcoming elections, policy priorities, and the Chevening Scholarship program.
Moderated by AUIS President Dr. Bilal Wahab, the panel offered insightful dialogue on the role of youth in shaping democratic processes and emphasized the importance of political participation. Ambassador Hitchen discussed the UK's ongoing support for educational and leadership initiatives, including the prestigious Chevening Scholarships.
In addition to AUIS faculty and students, a select group of faculty and students from other universities were invited to attend, further enriching the conversation with diverse perspectives.
