Iraq Leadership Fellows

IRIS is hosting the multi-year Iraq Leadership Fellows Program. The Fellowship Program was founded in 2017 in response to the growth of a generation of educated, politically and socially engaged young Iraqis who are keen to positively shape the future of their country. The program offers these future leaders an opportunity to learn cutting edge techniques in campaigning, community organizing, and advocacy. This is done through training workshops with world-class teachers, and through peer-to-peer engagement with other young leaders from across the Middle East. Through the course of the Fellowship, our Fellows develop, refine and launch their own political or social campaigns with intensive mentoring and support. The Fellows also develop deep relationships within the Fellowship, equipping them with a diverse network of Iraqis with whom they can collaborate and continue to develop their movements. More information about the Iraq Leadership Program, the fellows and the staff working on organizing the sessions available here.

Leadership Academy for Development - Iraq (LAD-IQ) – TOT

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) has partnered with the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), the Center for Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law at Stanford University, with funding from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) to host a course for high-level trainers in Iraq. The course is designed and delivered by a team of professors from Stanford University’s Leadership Academy for Development under the guidance of Professor Francis Fukuyama. This six-day course is designed to develop skills that faculty in policy-focused universities and training institutions can use both to develop interactive and participant-centered teaching styles and skills in case writing.

The first course took place from March 11-17, 2018 in Amman, Jordan, and focused on developing case study teaching methods and equipping faculty with skills to effectively incorporate case studies into their classes. It was attended by 20 academics and professional trainers from all over Iraq.

AUIS will host the next training seminar on its campus in Sulaimani this summer.
