On December 13th, IRIS hosted its first community consultation meeting as part of the Just Energy Transition project. The event convened civil society organizations, think tanks, researchers, and specialists from the water, food, and energy sectors to explore the concept of environmental transitioning in Iraq.
Moderated by IRIS researchers Shayan Kamil, Karam Robel, and Zmkan Saleem, the meeting focused on the interconnectedness of the water-energy-food nexus and how these systems might evolve over the next decade amid climate change, resource scarcity, and economic pressures. Participants also discussed the role of civil society in achieving justice and ensure that future policies are equitable, inclusive, and grounded in social justice.
