On November 17, 2024, the Iraq Leadership Fellows (ILF) program concluded its 2024 activities, with funding provided by the DT Institute, a partner that has supported the program since its inception in 2017. The final event of the year was a comprehensive three-day training workshop for participants selected as part of the program’s seventh batch.

This final ILF 2024 workshop focused on practical leadership development for participants in both the Political Candidate and Social Activist tracks. Led by the ILF Capacity Building team: Hussam Fakhoury and Zainab Qasim, training sessions covered key leadership skills such as negotiation, conflict management, trust-building within teams, delegation, and polarity management. Additionally, participants engaged in simulation exercises focused on negotiating water resource issues, emphasizing the climate change-focused approach adopted by the program this year. These simulations were led by IRIS Senior Fellow Dr. Sameh Al-Muqdadi.

The workshop concluded with a certificate ceremony recognizing participants who successfully completed the program. True to the Iraq Leadership Fellows approach, the program team fostered a safe and collaborative learning environment, emphasizing peer learning and contextual examples to enhance the learning experience.
Prior to this final workshop, participants also attended another three-day training focused on exploring their leadership purpose and philosophy, as well as five mentorship sessions that applied the principles of Adaptive Leadership to the Iraqi context.
