As Iraq struggles with the environmental impacts of war, climate change and oil production, citizens across the country often struggle to access reliable data on levels of pollution in the water, soil and air. This roundtable discusses prospects for enhancing environmental activism through “citizen science”, exploring ways that universities, communities and youth can play a role in monitoring pollution's impact on water quality, biodiversity, and public health. The roundtable calls for a collaborative effort harnessing the energy of citizens to tackle pressing environmental challenges.
