Addressing Challenges to Industry in the KRG and Iraq

On May 30th, 2022, the (IRIS) research fellows Ms, Ranya Baker and Ahmed Tabaqchali met with a group of industrial and economic experts during a closed roundtable discussion in Baghdad. The discussion focused on the challenges that the industry sector is experiencing in both Iraq and the KRI. Ms. Baker analyzed the current challenges that are facing the private sector development of industry. On the other hand, Mr. Tabaqchali highlighted the factors that led to the sharp rise in oil and food prices over the last eighteen months, which have intensified following the invasion of Ukraine. The discussion was part of both fellows' ongoing research, which will be published in the Iraq Economic Review in June 2022.
