Dr. Mohammed Nawzad Sabir, Interim Dean of the College of Pharmacy at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS), recently participated in the 8th Regional Pharmacy Faculty Development Workshop held on January 10 and 11, 2025, in Dubai, UAE. Hosted by the Dubai Pharmacy College for Girls, this annual academic event is organized under the auspices of the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), USA, and targets Middle East pharmacy programs seeking accreditation.

Inspired by the American educational model, students at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) actively participate in enriching activities like hiking, intellectual games, and environmental conservation. These initiatives aim to foster leadership and build a generation of skilled, capable youth.
As part of this mission, the AUIS Academic Preparatory Program (APP) recently organized a hike to the stunning Hawraman region. The trip was designed to introduce students, particularly those from outside Sulaimani, to the area’s breathtaking landscapes and cultural richness.

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) recently welcomed two distinguished U.S. officials, Consul General Steve Bitner and Deputy Assistant Secretary Victoria Taylor, to its campus. During their visit, they met with AUIS President Bilal Wahab to discuss enhancing collaboration between AUIS and U.S. universities, with a focus on expanding study abroad opportunities for students.

On January 10, 2025, the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) was thrilled to host its highly anticipated Alumni Gala Dinner in the AUIS Conference Hall.

As part of its commitment to providing valuable opportunities for its students, the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) organized a specialized training program in collaboration with Asiacell, one of Iraq’s leading telecommunications companies. 

The program offered participating students an immersive experience, allowing them to explore real-world work environments and gain practical knowledge across various departments within the company. 

On December 17, 2024, the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) and Asia International Hospital officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership. The MoU marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration aimed at advancing shared goals and fostering mutual growth.

As part of its continuous efforts to support capacity development in the region, AUIS and its Professional Development Institute (PDI) successfully hosted an afternoon business event for the local business community on December 11, 2024, at VIM Foundation premises in Sulaimani. The event focused on addressing the current challenges in Strategic Management and Leadership faced by businesses in Iraq.

On December 10, 2024, the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) hosted an Engineering Career Development Workshop, sponsored by Nahj Al Iraq (NAI), the exclusive distributor for GWM and Haval SUVs in Iraq. The event was a testament to AUIS’s commitment to equipping students with the tools they need to excel in their careers while integrating sustainability into their professional endeavors. 

In a remarkable effort to address the enduring impact of the Yazidi genocide, the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) hosted a pivotal panel discussion in collaboration with Yazda, the U.S. Department of State, Nobody’s Listening, and Up Stream. 

The event, titled "A Decade Later: Transitional Justice as a Framework to Address the Yazidi Genocide and Prevent Further Atrocities," brought together leading researchers, activists, and experts to reflect on the genocide’s aftermath and explore pathways to justice and accountability.
