raq faces severe environmental and social challenges that increasingly intersect with political and conflict dynamics. To address these interconnected issues, PAX and the Institute of Regional and International Studies (IRIS) implemented a multi-governorate initiative that engaged academics and students across the country. Using a "citizen science" approach, the project empowered local civil society networks to document the most pressing environmental concerns in their communities, bridging the gap between local research and national policy. By integrating expert analysis with grounded research, the collaboration provided officials with the evidence needed to address urgent climate and conflict-linked environmental concerns. The partnership built momentum around Iraq's environmental challenges while strengthening the capacity of local communities to advocate for sustainable reform.
