The IRIS Internship Program offers AUIS students a structured opportunity to contribute to ongoing policy and research projects. At the beginning of each internship term, interns will receive training designed to equip them with essential research skills, including transcription, data management, and related research tasks. Through this internship, students will gain practical experience in applied research, strengthen their analytical and professional skills, and contribute meaningfully to the work of our research team. Please note that this is an unpaid, volunteer internship.

 

Internship Details

• Time Commitment: 5 hours per week for 6 weeks
• Capacity: Up to 3 interns per term
• Eligibility: AUIS students only
• Term Limit: One internship per student

Core Responsibilities

Interns will primarily support research activities through:
• Transcription and translation of interviews (Arabic/Kurdish to English)
• Transcription of IRIS events and roundtables
Additional tasks may include:
• Supporting IRIS programs and events
• Conducting media reviews of Arabic or Kurdish sources

Time Commitment

• Minimum of 5 hours per week
• Attendance at weekly office hours (Wednesdays, 3:00 – 4:00 PM) is required
• Office hours are fixed and cannot be rescheduled
Applicants with scheduling conflicts are encouraged to apply for a future term.

Internship Periods (6-week Terms)

• Spring Term: February 1 – March 15
• Summer Term: June 15 – August 1
• Fall Term: October 1 – November 15
Interns may participate in only one term.

Compensation

This is an unpaid, volunteer internship.

• Spring Deadline: January 15
• Summer Deadline: June 1
• Fall Deadline: September 15
