On October 27, 2022, the Institute of Regional and International Studies (IRIS) hosted a policy roundtable discussion on water governance as part of a year-long research project titled “Competing over the Tigris and Euphrates: Climate Policy and Politics,” which is supported by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS). The session featured Dr. Mac Skelton and Ms. Zainab Hamid from IRIS, Mr. Nicholas Higgins from USAID, and Dr. Shukri Al-Hassan from Basrah University. This research project is the first to explore the political economy of Iraq's water crisis. The final report, co-published by IRIS and KAS, will be released on November 5, 2022.
