On November 29, 2022, IRIS hosted visiting researcher Filip Sommer for a roundtable discussion entitled "Is the Issue of Iraq's Disputed Territories Dead?" During this roundtable, Sommer focused on the current situation within Iraq's disputed territories in terms of social and political developments and their impact on local governance. The discussion highlighted dynamics in several strategic localities, namely Sinjar, the Nineveh Plains, Kirkuk, and Khanaqin. The roundtable took the form of a guided discussion between Sommer and a group of AUIS students, exploring the key actors, decision makers, and developments on the ground.
