On June 24-27, 2022 the Institute of Regional and International Studies (IRIS) hosted the first session of the Iraq Leadership Fellows 2022 at Slemani Rotana. During the session, fifty fellows in both the Political Candidate Track and Social Activist Track, received training on cutting-edge skills in leadership and community organizing.

The fellows, who come from all of Iraq and KRI provinces, went through three days of extensive training by international capacity-building specialists on Adaptive Leadership, Negotiation Skills, and Emotional Intelligence among other topics. Through the course of the program, the fellows will work on designing individual advocacy campaigns and political platforms under the supervision and guidance of the ILF team. Training in the Political Candidate track was led by Nussaibah Younis and Hussam Fakhoury while the Social Activists track was led by Zainab Qassim and Humam Rajab.
On the fourth of the first workshop, ILF hosted President of SEED Foundation Sherri Kraham, and MP Sajjad Salim as guest speakers. Both guests spoke to the fellows about their experience with leadership and how they overcome the challenges they face. The guests then engaged with the fellows through a Q&A session.
