On February 16, 2021, IRIS hosted a virtual roundtable discussion with Douglas Jennings, Sub-national Protection Cluster Coordinator for Central and Southern Iraq at UNHCR. The session entitled “Humanitarian Perspectives on Protection Challenges in Post-Conflict Iraq” was hosted under the banner of our Research Capacity Building Internship supported by the AHRC-FCDO Collaborative Humanitarian Protection Research Programme. Mr. Jennings spoke about the experiences in protection in the pre and post-ISIS conflict environment since 2016. He made linkages to the topics our research interns studied during their internship, including security actors' community relations, gender-specific protection challenges, and also reference protection challenges in post-ISIS territories.
