Maryam Allami is a non-resident research fellow at IRIS, contributing to the Iraq Economic Review with a focus on the local economy in Baghdad province. Maryam is a notable expert in private sector development and economic reforms in Iraq, with over seven years of experience. She holds a bachelor’s degree in applied science from the University of Technology, Iraq, and an MBA from Heriot-Watt University in the UK. Currently, she serves as the Country Operations Officer at IFC/World Bank. Throughout her career, Maryam has led numerous development projects, implemented economic reform initiatives, and spearheaded employment improvement measures while working extensively with the Iraqi government. She has held key roles such as Head of Sales Department for Alpha System Development, a British company operating in Tbilisi, Georgia, Private Sector Development Advisor to the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ), and Economic and Development Advisor to the Dutch Embassy in Baghdad, among others. Her diverse expertise and impactful contributions position her as a driving force for positive economic change in Iraq.
