During and after the ISIS conflict, international aid poured into Iraq for the emergency response, which was subsequently followed by several years of humanitarian and stabilization programming. More recently, the international community has shifted towards development, economic sustainability, and water scarcity. The war in Ukraine and changing strategic priorities have raised questions about the future of aid in Iraq, and the implications both for the state’s infrastructure capacity and local communities. In this roundtable, diplomats, policymakers and practitioners discussed the way forward. This roundtable was developed by IRIS in coordination with the SEED Foundation.
