CGDS Director Participates in "honor" Killing Discussion

On April 10, 2022, Dr. Choman Hardi participated in an online roundtable discussion titled “The “Honor” killings in Iran and the Neighbouring Countries,” organized by the Stop "Honor" Killings Campaign. The speakers included Fatma Aytac, Kausar Ahmad, Hoda Khamosh, and Rezvan Moghaddam who addressed the situation in Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran respectively. Dr. Choman’s talk was titled ““Honor”-killing and Masculinity in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq” in which she presented data from the Directorate of Combating Violence Against Women as well as her own study on masculinity and violence. CGDS’s research project on masculinity is part of the Gender, Justice and Security Hub, funded by the UK Research and Innovation’s Global Challenges Research Fund.
