On March 10, 2022, Dr. Choman Hardi read poetry, and discussed women’s writing and their representation in Kurdish men’s work at the Amazon Bookstore. This event was organized by the Reader Friends, a group of readers who have been meeting on a weekly basis for the past two years, to discuss books and ideas. While commemorating International Women’s Day, the discussion acknowledged women’s contribution to literature, highlighting their attempts to counter misrepresentation in the masculine value system.
Image description: There are two photos, both of a group of people seated in a circle of cane chairs in front of a wall with many shelves of books on either side of five paintings. In one photo, we see the faces of nine people —five women and four men—and the backs of the heads of two more people. In the other photo, we see the same group of people, with their attention on the speaker, a women with dark curly hair who is gesturing with raised hands and looking down.
