On February 23, 2022, Mr. Shanaw Peshraw, a lawyer who works on behalf of refugees and IDPs for Heartland Alliance, spoke about his experiences as a blind person to the students in the “Introduction to Disability Studies” class. This class, which focuses on disability as a cultural and historical phenomenon, and on disability rights as social justice, is part of the gender minor. We at CGDS follow the principle of “Nothing About Us Without Us”: people with disabilities must have a voice when we speak about disability.
