CGDS Visiting Scholar, summer/fall 2019: Ms. Dastan Jasim

In 2019, the Center for Gender and Development Studies hosted Ms. Dastan Jasim, who was then in a master’s student of Political Sciences and Assyriology at the University of Heidelberg. She obtained a scholarship, the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung, that allowed her to do fieldwork in Kurdistan. She worked with a not-for-profit research institution in Erbil for the first three months of her scholarship, and completed her six months of work in the KRI with CGDS. Ms Dastan has worked on democratization and Marxist and feminist theories. She works both quantitatively and qualitatively and has published several articles on the region of Kurdistan. She was in Sulaimani with CGDS through the end of September 2019.
