We are delighted to announce that Dr Shakir (Muhammed Usman) passed his PhD examination with the grade of “1” (“excellent”) and has earned his interdisciplinary doctorate from the University of Innsbruck, Austria. His dissertation title is “History of Shia, Sunni and Yazidi Conflict: A Political, Social, or Religious Conflict and its Impact on the Peace Process in the Middle East” with special focus on Kurdistan, northern Iraq. In spring 2021, Dr. Shakir was CGDS’s first Jan Warner Visiting Scholar, and he also served as an instructor in the Social Sciences for several courses.
