The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani, has announced that Dr. Choman Hardi, CGDS Director, has been promoted to the rank of associate professor. Dr. Choman joined AUIS in 2014 at the rank of assistant professor in the Department of English, where she also served as department chair in 2016-17. While at AUIS, she founded CGDS in 2015, fundraised, built a team, developed and taught feminist courses in the English department, and conducted and published research. She also founded TAG, The Action Group, an AUIS student social justice group. In addition to her roles as scholar and director, she is also a poet; most recently, her collection Considering the Woman was released in a French translation. Dr. Choman earned her BA from Queens College Oxford, and her MA from University College London. Her PhD is from the University of Kent, Canterbury. Her post-doctoral research about the women survivors of the Anfal genocide was funded by the Leverhulme Trust. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Choman.
