On Sunday, August 23rd, 2020, CGDS participated in the UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) protocol assessment about a bout sexual exploitation and abuse. As an Iimplementing Partner with UNFPA, CGDS has a zero tolerance policy to sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA). Both CGDS and UNFPA view the prevention of SEA as a shared responsibility of the humanitarian and development community as a whole. The purpose of this meeting was to ensure adequate safeguards and appropriate action related to sexual exploitation and abuse, as well as to introduce the participants to the PSEA, a self-assessment tool for UNFPA’s Implementing Partners. Dr. Omer Elfaroug Habib Abakr, PSEA Coordinator for Iraq, presented information to 27 participants, including CGDS’ UNFPA Project Manager Mr. Hawar Jamal and UNFPA Project Co-Directors Dr. Choman Hardi and Dr. Lynn Rose.
