CGDS Research Assistant Awarded a TARII Visiting Scholarship to Present Work on Masculinities

Mr. Ramyar Ismail Jamal, CGDS Research Assistant for the project on Masculinities, funded by the UK Research and Innovation’s Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF), has been selected to participate in this year's TARII Research conference. The Academic Research Institute in Iraq, a consortium of American universities and museums, promotes scholarly research on Iraq. The institute is working to establish a multidisciplinary American scholarly research center and library in Iraq. TARII invited applications from citizens or residents of Iraq to present at the conference, held every other year. As a successful applicant, Mr. Ramyar will travel as a Visiting Scholar to Washington, D.C. for one week to present at the conference and enjoy several additional activities. Full funding is provided by the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. The research conference, “From Ancient to Modern: the Current State of Research on Iraq,” is co-sponsored by Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, the Smithsonian's National Museum of Asian Art, and will take place on October 9, 2020, in the Meyer Auditorium in the Freer Gallery of Art.  Mr Ramyar will give a presentation addressing CGDS’ ongoing research on masculinities in partnership with London School of Economics and several other universities across the world. Please join us in congratulating Mr. Ramyar!
