CGDS, as part of its Women’s Voices project with Internews, held four Roundtable discussions in the cities of Rania, Qalat Dizah, Haji Awa, and Sulaymani on the 12th of December, 2019 and the 21st and 22nd of January, 2020. They were led by Dr. Choman Hardi, Director of CGDS, and facilitated by Arez Taha, Project Manager at CGDS. The participants were local activists, teachers, NGO workers, lawyers, and other active individuals in their respective localities. The goal of these meetings was to have an honest discussion about the state of women’s rights in the region and locally, the discourse on traditional and social media, everyday examples of sexism in culture, and propose solutions to some of the issues raised.
