AUIS staff from the Moulakis Library, and Center for Gender and Development Studies (CGDS) attended the 17th AMICAL Annual Conference, hosted by the American University in Kuwait from January 15th - January 19th, 2020. Mr. Shko Shwan (CGDS Project Manager) and Ms. Shanaz Aras (Library Assistant) attended the four-day conference.
AMICAL is a consortium of the libraries at 29 international American-model liberal arts universities, dedicated to coordinating informational and pedagogical resources and practices. This year’s annual conference focused on “Digital transformation at international liberal arts institutions: Innovation, collaboration & sustainability,” bringing together librarians, technologists, and faculty from the member institutions.
Mr. Shwan participated in the Community Idea Exchange program and presented a research project that aims to start directing the universities to implement online pedagogy within the university. The main goal is to adapt some classes to a hybrid classroom, following instruction on digital pedagogy to encourage instructors to make use of the technological resources already in their classrooms titled “New ways of teaching in MENA region”
