Diversity Week, hosted by the Student Services Center, was held in partnership with CGDS, along with the AUIS Student Association, the student group Volunteer With Us, the Sulaimani Rozh Society for People with Disabilities, the Spirit of Soccer organization. Dr. Lynn Rose, Deputy Director of CGDS, gave the opening welcome of the festivities on Sunday, October 6th, 2019.
This week celebrates the variety of religious identities, physical abilities, affectional preferences, and more. The week began with exhibitions of clothes, food, and music. Other activities include a football tournament (disabled vs. nondisabled), as well as poetry, music, and literature. There will be a basic sign language lesson on Wednesday, and on Thursday, October 10th, there will be a “Safe Spaces” training, on the model of the Gay-Straight Alliance.
