Dr. Choman Hardi, Director of the Center for Gender and Development Studies and Assistant Professor (English) and Dr. Lynn Rose, CGDS Deputy Director and Professor (Social Sciences) traveled to Cairo, 8-12 November 2018, to meet colleagues in Gender Studies as part of their project-planning for the recently awarded EU grant on educational development. Dr. Martina Rieker, Director of the Cynthia Nelson Institute for Gender and Women’s Studies, AUC, agreed to assist CGDS with one-week training sessions on gender studies for scholars throughout Egypt. These trainings, to take place in the summer of 2020, are the outcome of one of the major projects funded by the EU grant awarded to CGDS in October 2018. Drs. Choman and Lynn also consulted with Dr. Jasmin Mahmoud Fouad, Coordinator of the Gender and Development Professional Master Program at Cairo University, who offered her insights about higher education and gender studies in the MENA region.
