Project Launch for Five-Year Research Grant to CGDS

The Center for Gender and Development Studies, with friends and supporters from the university and the community, celebrated the launch of our research project on July 17, 2019. We were awarded a five-year grant totaling over a million dollars to research Masculinities and Violence. After opening remarks by President Bruce, Professor Christie Chinkin, Director of the Centre on Women, Peace and Security at the London School of Economics, then provided an overview of the project, which includes six strands of inquiry that will examine gender-related injustice and insecurity in communities around the world. We debuted our first of several short films, on Masculinity and Femininity, and provided an overview of what CGDS does. Dr. Choman closed by summarizing CGDS’ roles in this project.
