On June 15-20, 2018, Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), along with its partners, organized the ‘Women Can Do It’ training program for Kurdish and Iraqi women in Erbil. NPA and the Norwegian Labour Party have led Women Can Do It trainings in more than 25 countries, and they are expanding their program to Iraq.
Dr. Choman Hardi, who is a 1325 Fellow, led the 5 day training workshop in collaboration with Dejana Grbic-Velagic. The aim of this training was to empower women to become skillful decision makers through learning techniques in political participation, mainstreaming gender, improving their ability to conduct gender-sensitive analysis, enhancing their communication and public speaking skills, utilising the media, and forming support networks.
Women participants included senior members of various political parties as well as members of Iraqi and Kurdish Parliaments.
