Women Leaders: Challenges, Strategies and Rewards

To commemorate International Women’s Day the Center for Gender and Development Studies is hosting a discussion with three female Kurdish leaders. They will talk about the challenges they have met on their way to the top, the strategies that they have developed to cope in a male dominated environment and the rewards of their journey so far. 

The event will be opened by AUIS Interim President, Dr. Esther Mulnix, who will talk about the significance of International Women’s Day and her view of the plight of women in Iraq.

Moderator: Koral Noori, journalist and women’s rights activist

Participants:

  • Nian Abdulla, President of Hiwa Foundation and Consultant Human Resources
  • Parwin Babakr, Former Minister of Industry and Energy in Kurdistan
  • Narmin Othman, Former Minister of Eduction and Labor and Social Affairs in Kurdistan, Former Minster for Women’s Affairs, Human Rights  and Environment in Baghdad. 

The theme for this year's International Women's Day is #PledgeforParity.
