Dr. Choman Hardi Speaks at “Let’s Talk Iraq” Conference in Baghdad

On December 8 2021, Dr. Choman Hardi, CGDS Director, spoke at the UNFPA and UNWOMEN advocacy Conference “Let’s Talk Iraq,” held at the Babylon Hotel, Baghdad. The discussants addressed ways of ending Gender based Violence in Iraq in three panel sessions; a reception and wrap-up followed. Dr. Choman spoke in the first panel, “Ending GBV through Innovative Solutions.” She highlighted the educational projects that CGDS has carried out to change the value system and strengthen the education and higher education sectors to reduce GBV. She particularly focused on two of our projects, producing mother tongue educational resources funded by the European Union and the UNFPA. Some of our outputs can be found on our online database, freely accessible to all.

Image description: A white circle in the middle of a beige backroad reads, in black font, Let’s Talk!  Above is a semicircle of smaller black font that says Together for Ending Gender-Based Violence in Iraq; the lower semicircle reads Baghdad, 8 December 2021. The outer circle against the beige background depicts stylized golden grain, and there are six small logos in the bottom center.

Three people are seated on a stage; beneath them, we see blurred mages of the audience from the back. On the stage, the woman in the center is speaking into a microphone that she holds with one hand and gesturing with her other hand; the woman and man on either side are looking at her. The background wall is orange, with white circles in various sizes reading Let’s talk! in black font. Small, low tables with water, glasses, and tissues are in front of each speaker.
