On September 22nd 2020, members of CGDS met with Rozh Society, an organization of and for people with disabilities in Kurdistan, to talk about cooperating on projects that advocate for people with disabilities. Dr. Lynn Rose, Deputy Director of CGDS, and Ms. Tara Burhan, CGDS’s EU MENA Liaison, spoke with Mr. Ahmed Shex Yahya, who has taken over the presidency of Rozh since the passing of Mr. Noori Sheikh Barzinjy. Ms. Asmar S. Jabar, Mr. Dler Shex, and Mr. Shex Mahamad were also present. Mr. Lawen Sirwan served as our translator. CGDS takes an intersectional approach to issues of social justice, recognizing that fundamental social perspectives must improve before true gender equality is possible.
