The CGDS Team traveled to Erbil on October 7th, 2020, to visit the offices of the High Council of Women’s Affairs. CGDS Director Dr. Choman Hardi, Deputy Director Dr. Lynn Rose, and UNFPA Project Manager Dr. Hawar Jamal were received by Dr. Khanzad Ahmed, the Secretary General of Kurdistan’s High Council of Women’s Affairs. Dr. Khanzad thanked us for our work and said that she is looking forward to this partnership on the UNFPA project as we work with the Women’s High Council to complete several projects, in partnership with UNFPA, on gender equity and GBV prevention. Representatives from UN Women also attended the meeting.
Image description: The logo of the Kurdistan Regional Government is composed of a stylized eagle, its black head with a gold eye pointing to the left and its gold wings raised upwards. The top of the wings meet above the head to hold a stylized sun—a circle of gold surrounded by four red points and four green rectangles. The eagle’s black feet and gold talons rest on a black banner with white Kurdish script. One one side of the banner is 1992 in Arabic numbers, and on the other, 1992 in Kurdish numbers. The bottom range, in black, all-caps, spells Kurdish Regional Government.
