CGDS Director Dr. Choman Hardi Participates in “Performing Violence, Engendering Change”

On 17 November, 2021, Dr. Choman Hardi facilitated a poetry workshop for women in Sulaimani as part of a conference on gender and the use of arts-based methods to understand conflict, prevent violence, and build peace. She also gave a poetry reading on 18 November, the last day of the conference. The conference, which took place on Zoom, brought together artists, academics, activists, and representatives from civil society and governments, and focused on linking participants across disciplines and backgrounds to highlight the potential of the arts and art-based methods in addressing gender issues in conflict situations and peacebuilding. This conference was sponsored by the UKRI GCRF.
