On Tuesday, November 3, 2020, Bamberg University’s American Studies program will host its third "American Election Night." Students, colleagues, and the general public are invited to an evening of critical analyses, panel discussions, and open debates concerning the current US presidential election. CGDS Deputy Director Dr. Lynn Rose will serve as a panelist, as one of the former guest professors in Bamberg University’s American Studies program. In November 2013, she taught “Taming the Monkey-Woman,” a course on U.S. disability history.
“American Election Night” is part of a transatlantic dialogue about this historical moment, and what it means for the United States, for Germany, and for universities. Election Night will take place virtually, as a bi-lingual program (Part I in English, Part II in German), featuring cultural critics, poets, political scientists, and historians from the US, Canada, and Germany.
