CGDS meets with Berghof Foundation

On October 21st, 2019, CGDS team members Dr. Choman Hardi, Sewe Kader, Shko Shwan, and Hawar Jamal, had a meeting with Mouna Ghanem, Priscilla Megalaa, Nora Rathje, Ilkka Uusitalo, and Ayham Azzam from the Berghof Foundation. The Berghof Foundation is a non-governmental and non-profit organization that is based in Germany. In the MENA region, they have recently focused on Syria and how to promote good governance within the area. Their meeting with CGDS entailed a discussion about a possible joint-venture project, in which both parties hold a series of workshops and trainings. The importance of the joint-venture is that the Berghof Foundation and CGDS would work on political and gender issues interchangeably. The participants would be political leaders of Rojava, Syria, and Iraq. The workshops would prepare women to change their understanding of gender in politics. The participants will be trained on how to advocate for and implement good governance that is gender-sensitive. These female leaders would then be equipped with a broader perspective to tackle the issues they face with a more extensive background.
