On May 11, 2022, a team from IRIS and Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) held a workshop in Erbil for a group of local and international protection actors. The event was organized to discuss the key challenges and opportunities in ensuring the short-term and long-term protection of civilians residing in the post ISIS territories in Iraq. The event was part of the research project which was conducted by both IRIS and GPPi across the post-ISIS territories (select areas within Nineveh, Kirkuk, and Salahaldin provinces) in addition to interviews with humanitarian actors involved in protection activities. The project is supported by the AHRC-FCDO Collaborative Humanitarian Protection Research Programme and co-implemented by GPPi.
