Simona Foltyn

Journalist and Filmmaker
Simona Foltyn is a journalist and filmmaker who has been based in Baghdad since 2018. Simona specializes in accountability and investigative reporting, with a focus on armed conflict, social justice, corruption and abuse of power. Simona’s work has been published by PBS NewsHour, Al Jazeera English, France24, the Guardian, Foreign Policy Magazine, Politico Magazine, the Intercept and others. From 2019-2021, she was Al Jazeera’s Iraq correspondent. She has partnered with Type Investigations and the Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting. Simona holds a Master in Public Affairs from Princeton University and a Bachelor in Political Science from Georgia State University.
