Human Rights Attorney

Sherizaan Minwalla is a US licensed lawyer and Owner of Taboo LLC, pushing boundaries with clients to pursue justice. For the past twenty years she has represented many individuals who experienced gender-based violence to achieve asylum protection, refugee resettlement, and legalization of their immigration status in the US. She trains lawyers on core legal skills required to strengthen client representation and outcomes and taught for two years at the Washington College of Law’s International Human Rights Law Clinic. Sherizaan has worked in Iraq for ten years running access to justice and human rights programs, and responding to the needs of survivors of conflict related sexual violence who were abducted by ISIS. She has consulted with the International Organization for Migration since October 2021 to implement the Yezidi Female Survivors' Law.
