Saman Abdulraham Ahmad, KBF President

Dr. Saman A. Ahmad was born in Sulaimani, Kurdistan and received his Ph.D. in plant taxonomy (Plant systematic), from the University of Sulaimani in 2013. He has worked on several projects related to key biodiversity areas in the Kurdistan Region and on the flora of Iraq. He has discovered more than 30 species new to Iraq and over 22 novelties to science, which include Ferula shehbaziana S.A.Ahmad (Apiaceae), Petrorhagia sarbagiae S.A.Ahmad (Caryophyllaceae), Onosma hawramanensis S.A.Ahmad (Boraginaceae), Scrophularia sulaimanica S.A.Ahamd (Scrophulariaceae), Scrophularia kollakii S.A.Ahmad (Scrophulariaceae), Salvia Ali-askari S.A.Ahmad (Lamiaceae), Silene shehbazii S.A.Ahmad (Caryophyllaceae), and Cousinia azmarensis (Asteraceae, Cardueae), and Echinops shakrokii (Asteraceae).
