In an effort to continue serving the Mercy Corps´ INNOVATE program, the Professional Development Institute (PDI) at American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) has facilitated two organizational development workshops in Strategic Management and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) for Mercy Corps’ INNOVATE program in Sulaimani. The workshops took place on August 28 - 29, 2019 (Strategic Management) and September 2 -3, 2019 (M&E) and were taught by Mr. Anwar Ibrahim and Ms. Rava Khorshid. The objective of the workshops was to build the sustainability of Mercy Corps’ local partners through capacity building. The INNOVATE program is itself implemented through a partnership with local NGOs.
The PDI workshops were part of the INNOVATE project initiated by Mercy Corps to reduce the vulnerability of conflict-affected youth through increased livelihood outcomes utilizing an approach that fosters psychosocial wellbeing. The workshops provided a comprehensive view of strategic management and program monitoring & evaluation principles as well as introduction to different tools for managing their processes. The workshops also focused on understanding the importance of strategic planning and Monitoring & Evaluation planning in NGOs and on providing guidance on producing these plans. The scope of the program also involved a follow up period by the trainers to measure the outcomes for the workshop and to support the NGOs in applying the learning in their daily work.
The Professional Development Institute (PDI) seeks to identify and provide value-adding programs and services to develop individuals´ knowledge and skills necessary for achieving personal and professional goals.
