American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) lecturer, Ms. Alex Poppe, delivered a presentation titled, “Modern Styles in Teaching English to Non-native Speakers” to the faculty of Al-Mustansiriya University as well as visiting scholars attending the 19th International Conference of College of Arts on Languages and Translation in Baghdad on April 29 and 30.
Poppe’s presentation focused on methods of bringing communicative approaches to teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL).
“It was a perspective-changing experience and a dream come true to visit Baghdad,” Poppe said. “I look forward to a continued dialogue and exchange with the warm, generous, vibrant, and intellectually stimulating women of Al-Mustansiriya.”
Poppe joined AUIS as a lecturer in the Academic Preparatory Program (APP) in 2016. Her recent book “Girl, World” was shortlisted for the Eric Hoffer Grand Prize and was awarded a distinction for General Fiction.
