AUIS President Bruce W. Ferguson spoke at a lunch event in Chicago, Illinois on March 19 to share the mission and work of the University and discuss the importance of American-style academic institutions in the Middle East.
Dr. Rachel Bronson, a member of the AUIS Board of Trustees, hosted the event and welcomed guests along with John DeBlasio, who generously sponsored the luncheon. Through the Global Peace and Development (GPD) Charitable Trust, DeBlasio also is a key supporter of the Iraq Leadership Fellows (ILF) program hosted by the Institute for Regional and International Studies (IRIS) at AUIS.
Bronson and DeBlasio echoed President Ferguson’s emphasis on the importance of AUIS’s liberal arts curriculum, especially its focus on developing critical thinking skills, teamwork, and a spirit of community involvement in the future leaders of Iraq.
President Ferguson presented Bronson and DeBlasio with keepsake awards at the end of the lunch in recognition of their service to the University.
