Susanna Johnson, Lecturer

M.Ed. in Adult Education
B.A. in Journalism

Susanna holds a B.A. in journalism and an M.Ed. in adult education, with a focus on literacy. 
Outside of Kurdistan, she has lived and worked in Inner Mongolia, China, as well as Minnesota and Colorado in the U.S. She has taught and administered programs in various educational settings, including adult language acquisition and functional literacy, English for academic purposes, high school equivalency programs, and university English courses. 
She has particular interests in classroom management, the neuroscience of learning, growth mindset, teacher development, and culturally responsive teaching. She believes teachers must be effective and compassionate as they walk with their students through the rough route towards transformative fields of learning, as poet Josephine Miles writes.
