The Bachelor of Arts in English Journalism develops in students a dexterity in traditional and emerging media and stresses individual field-work as a primary vehicle, allowing students to cultivate their own interests as they learn all the necessary skills. The English Department offers students the opportunity to explore – and participate in the rich tradition of the written word in English. All students learn to approach texts and ideas critically, to consider them thoughtfully, and to write about them clearly. The enhanced fluency in English majors and minors will prepare them to compete in the domestic and international job markets for careers in teaching, journalism, government, marketing, communications, publishing, and business as well as for graduate study.
