Jessica Postma graduated from Western Michigan University in 2010 with a bachelors in anthropology and gender and women's studies. She received her first masters degree in 2013 in socio-linguistic anthropology with an emphasis on rhetoric and imagery. In 2016, she finished her second masters in TESOL from Spring Arbor University. Most recently, in 2017 she completed her third masters from the University of Haifa in peace and conflict management.
She began her teaching career first as a substitute teacher and tutor. Since that time, she has proceeded to work in the ESOL field in the United States, Myanmar, Israel, and South Korea. She has spent the majority of her time teaching adults and adolescents in non-profit settings. Most of her students have been a mixture of refugees, immigrants, and at-risk groups.
