On February 16 and 17, IRIS Director Christine van den Toorn and IRIS Senior Fellow Ahmed Ali participated the first meeting of the Task Force on the Future of Iraq, an initiative of the Atlantic Council’s Rafik Hariri Center for the Middle East. They are two of twenty-three Iraq experts selected to be part of the Task Force, which is being chaired by former US Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker. The Task Force will identify ways to support the Iraqis in stabilizing their state, reconciling their warring communities, and building the basis for long term stability in the country.
The second meeting of the Task Force will take place at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) just before the 4th annual Sulaimani Forum to be held March 16 and 17
The Task Force was also recently cited in New York Times article. To read it, please click here.
