On May 12-14, 2023, the Institute of Regional and International Studies (IRIS) at the American University of Iraq-Sulaimani (AUIS) kicked off the 2023 class of the Iraq Leadership Fellows by hosting the first training workshop of the year in Sulaymaniyah. The workshop entitled “Leadership with Purpose,” provided comprehensive leadership training to 50 fellows, coming from 15 provinces across Iraq and Kurdistan Region. The fellows are divided into two groups, the Political Candidate Track and Social Activist Track.

Fellows in both tracks underwent three intensive days of training on various leadership topics under the supervision of the ILF capacity-building team. They focused on equipping the participants with the skills they need to define their leadership philosophy, understand their personality preferences, and understand the concept of Adaptive Leadership.

The ILF 2023 is the 6th class of fellows of the program. Since its inception in 2017, the program has been supported by Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung and DT Institute.
