Delawit Mesfin, Director of Communications
Delawit Mesfin is the Director of Communications and is responsible for overseeing operations of the Office of Communications. Delawit leads the development and implementation of strategy across the University’s external and digital communications platforms, and manages budgeting and planning for the Office of Communications. With more than a decade of professional experience in media and communications, Delawit comes to the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani with a broad range of skills in digital media management and content creation.
Delawit holds a BA in Communication Studies from the American University in Washington, DC and a Certificate in Marketing Strategy from Cornell University's SC Johnson College of Business through the eCornell learning platform.

Soran Naqishbandy, Publications Manager
Soran Naqishbandy is an active member of the University's Communications Office and works in three different capacities: as the graphic designer, photographer, videographer and consultant on video projects. He has won the third international prize from CAPA in 2007. He has experience working as a social documentary photographer and has held 11 solo exhibitions in Iraq and Iran and has been involved in group exhibitions abroad. He has translated six books from Persian and English into Kurdish. His most recent research is "Image and Verbal and Visual Art: Imagsim in modern literature/ Ezra Pound as a model".
He received his B.A. in literature from the University of Human Development.

Faraidun Penjweni, Translator
Faraidun Penjweni is an editor who works part-time for the university’s website, specifically the Arabic and Kurdish pages. As an editor, he also participates in editing promotional publications issued by the university in two languages: Arabic and Kurdish. Also, as a linguistic auditor, he also cooperates with the various departments of the university with regard to editing writings and correspondence in the Kurdish and Arabic languages. As an editor, he also cooperates with the media teams that participate in broadcasting the events of the annual Sulaimaniyah Forum organized by the university.
Faraidun holds a diploma in the Arabic language, and a BA in law. He worked for three years (from the beginning of 2006 to the beginning of 2009) as director of Nowruz Radio - Al-Sulaymaniyah Channel, which is affiliated with the Kurdistan Regional Government, and has media experience spanning more than two decades. He is a poet, writer and jurist, besides his journalistic writings, he also has literary writings in Kurdish and Arabic. Currently, besides working part-time at the university, he works as a jurist in one of the state departments.
Shene Rasul, Communications Associate
As the Communications Associate, Shene assists in setting and guiding the internal and external communications strategy, including but not limited to website and social media content, as well as public relations messaging and outreach. She is also responsible for coordinating communications campaignes, events, supporting sponsorship initiatives and managing volunteers. Before joining the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani, she had three years of professional experience in Digital Media Marketing and translation.
Shene has a BSc. in Information Technology with a minor in Business Administration from AUIS.
