As a part of our EU project, the Center for Gender Development and Studies-AUIS, offered 14 AUIS students the opportunity to become textbook reviewers. The students will review primary education textbooks (grades 1-9) with a view to revising them and making them more egalitarian and inclusive. They will be looking for sexism, ethnocentrism, or any other form of discrimination based on religion, class, sexuality and ability in these textbooks. The students were trained by Dr. Choman Hardi and Dr. Akeel Abbas on Saturday, February 23rd. The review process started this week. At the end of the process, recommendations for change will be made to the Ministries of Education in KRG and Iraq.
